Why tag your PDF ?

The vast majority of documents available on the Internet are PDF, but these are not natively readable by screen readers such as NVDA or Jaws. Without processing, the PDF format therefore leads to inequalities in access to information for people with visual or motor impairments. Furthermore, by tagging your PDF, search engines have access to the data contained in the documents and can therefore index them for better SEO.

Since the decree n°2019-768 of 24 July 2019, the legislator requires eligible organisations in France to make office files, including PDF, accessible.

This decree is part of the European Directive on the accessibility of content and services on the web. Generally speaking, the legislative arsenal is being strengthened worldwide in order to better protect citizens and prevent discriminatory situation
